PHYSICAL EXERCISE IS IMPORTANT TO ME: HONOR THE BODY

ree

This is a picture of my favorite piece of exercise equipment. I use it regularly particularly when I am on a tight schedule and am working a lot. I'm not trying to sell you on anything here. Find what works for you best.

A walk in the park. A jog around the neighborhood. Yoga. Weightlifting. Bicycle riding. Any competitive sport where you move around. I like to focus a portion of my time on pure physical fitness. Strength and cardio.

Don't get me wrong. I am a work in progress physically and I'm not obsessed with having the perfect body image. Right now I just want to keep my sugar and cholesterol numbers in check and lose about 20 lbs. to get to my doctor approved goal weight. My dad and I have even belonged to an awesome weight loss support group for many years now. We've both lost about 60-65 lbs sensibly over the years.

Who got me back on track with my attention to my physical fitness and well being? My psychiatrist whom I began seeing way back in 2010. I wasn't seeing a primary care doc at all and weighed about 300 pounds (I'm 245 now and want to get to 225). He started checking my sugar and cholesterol until I found a family doctor that I was comfortable with.

I took the hint from my psy-doc that overall bodily health and fitness is very important to mental well being and have made it an integral part of my recovery plan

At a loss for words but that is alright

I am sitting here wanting to post again and the words just don't want to come. That is alright though. Sometimes no words are enough. Just sitting in the presence of God. Alas though, he is permitting
