My name is Dan Popovich, and I am a 59 year old, single Catholic layman and happy to be so. I live in northeast Ohio.
I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder at age 26 in 1994 while pursuing a vocation to the priesthood in the Catholic church, which turned out not to be my calling.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from The Ohio State University (1990) and worked successfully as a Process Engineer early in my career after being diagnosed. I moved around various industries afterward, but have spent the last 15 years as my father's main caregiver at home until he passed peacefully last year at age 93.
During that time, I supplemented my income with various part-time self-employment opportunities. I started Climb The Hill Media and my personal blog, danpopovich.blog, to express my gratitude towards God as well as discuss what has worked and not worked for me to survive and thrive over the years as a mental health consumer.
I continue to use professional mental health support and advocate for compassionate and effective care for everyone.
I am not a mental health professional but do offer my own thoughts on faith and mental health, as drawn from my personal recovery story for over 30 years now.
If you are struggling with such an issue, I encourage you to reach out to someone for help.
