Jesus Christ: Son of God, Our Lord
Updated: Aug 26
I am a Roman Catholic.
What does that mean?
I'll be honest with you, I don't know. I worship God in a Roman Catholic church here locally and it seems to suit me well.
I like the rules. I need the structure. The ritual is so so compared with the richness of the Eastern Orthodox faith that I grew up in as a boy.
My dad, who is not a Catholic and remains Eastern Orthodox, literally took me to our local Catholic church starting about ten years ago because he saw that I was drifting from any semblance of Christian faith.
Why the title of this post "Jesus Christ: Son of God, Our Lord"?
My dad and I are both Christians of differing brands if you will but as with all Christians, It is belief in Jesus Christ that unites us all.
Sure, there are different interpretations and varying things that are emphasized or not in all of the Christian denominations and non -denominations.
I don't know why there are so many brands of Christianity.
Obviously God has allowed all this splintering and such to take place historically.
Believe it though. Christ unites us all.
What about the Holy Trinity?
I can only speak for myself. I like worshipping in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The great mystery of three Persons, One God.
God Himself is a community of sorts constantly welcoming in new members of His Flock the Church.
We are One Body. The Church with Christ as the Head.
I could go on and on.
People, Saints throughout the ages have been writing about these great Mysteries and Truths about God.
The Holy and Inspired Books of the Bible attest to it all perfectly.
The Traditions and Teachings of the Church bear witness.
All I know is that Christ saved my life as He does all Christians.
He leads us back to the Father, His Father, Our Father through the workings of the Holy Spirit of God.
To a great Family here on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Humbling but gratifying realities.
